This is Grant's store. Originally, this was the site of Youills Blacksmithy in the 1860's, then in succession a hotel, the Bank of Nova Scotia, and the Red and White Store (Grant's Store). R.G.Grant owned it by 1941.
There is an 8mm film of destruction of Grant's Store in a fire. It may be in the possession of Peter Haughton, whose father filmed it. The rebuilt store was operated by Jim Carmichael for many years, serving as the heart of the village and its post-office. It was closed upon his retirement in the early 2000s.
